March Madness

Hello All.

When you think of March Madness you probably have the picture of young athletic men playing their hearts out to fulfill the dream they had since they were 7. I on the other hand am not anywhere near a basketball court. Although it would probably be fun to play one of these days.

March is the catalog world, or at least in my catalog world where we need to meet some pretty big deadlines. All of the products Legendary Whitetails plans to have in our Fall Catalog need to be in motion right now. If I had to give myself a job title I don't think I really could considering how many hats I need to wear. One of the titles I do take on the product manager. For about the 10 years Legendary Whitetails has been growing at a rapid rate. The last 2 years I have been with the company we have grown about 20% overall. With the size we are now,20% is starting to be a little overwhelming. We just moved into a building that was twice as big, and after 7 months we already have plans to expand. So, with all the growth, that means we need more products, more pages, more space, more employees(waiting to see them), and more time to organize.

At times it hard to keep everything straight. Were each product is in the development phase. How many units to bring in. What products to develop. How many of this category. What colors. How many SKUs. What is the popular color this year(always black for men). Its my job to have all of this organized. I also need to come up with a plan that matches or circulation(how many catalogs we mail. For example if on average we bring in $4 for every cataloged mailed, and we are mailing 3 million catalogs. I need to bring in enough inventory to cover 12 million dollars in Sales.

I think every product is going to be the best thing since sliced bread, so I can easily come up with a plan that covers that sales need to be. The hard thing is narrowing it down. Making sure you have the right mix of products. This year we are going to have some killer stuff, and a lot more things for the ladies. I hope to be able to share some of that with you in later blogs.

On a side note. I have been trying to put together Team Legendary, which hasn't gone as smoothly as I would like. So, far I have put together a team of 5 MLB players. The most notable being Jonathan Broxton who made it to the All Star game last year. Nothing has not really come out of it. I wanted to put something nice on our website so we could have some way to draw people to our website. All you can do right now is buy products. We are in the middle up getting a huge upgrade, so I was told to put my plans on hold. While waiting though, Joe Mauer did an interview with one of our Legendary Caps. You couldn't pick a better guy to represent Legendary.

In other news, I am also in charge of the social network program. I have been toying with a bunch of things. As of late I have been running a Facebook Friday promo that has been a hit. I try to put our best selling products on sale for ridiculous prices so people go crazy. I only sale a limited amount in hopes that they will be back next week. So far so good. I am also running a fan appreciate giveaway. I am giving away gift certificates just for signing up. A couple lucky people will be drawn at random to collect. As of recently, I have been getting about 1,000 fans a day which is really good for me. I am over 33K which is a lot more than most people can say. You would be amazed at how many sales I can drive too. Again, at a later date I may go into depth about what I am doing.

Otherwise Legendary will be releasing a sale catalog due to drop 4/1. Have some huge discounts in it. We don't have much product left.
